Sponge Filter

Hi i was wondering i have a normal fluval 1 filter in my tank, if i was to put an algarde 45 sponge filter in the tank, how long will i have to leave it till i can remove the fluval filter and there will be enought bacteria on the sponge one to run the tank on its own??

you should keep both filters running in the tank for at least 1 month. After which time you can remove one but you will be removing half the filter bacteria. Therefore you should reduce the feeding for a week or so after the second filter is removed. By then the filter bacteria should have built up sufficiently to take care of all the wastes being produced in the tank.
