I agree that they are ugly.. well in my opinion, i was watchng them in the lfs and they swim and shake there butts but dont go anywhere..
the answer to your question is.. it all depends on there life really. although a sailfin molly will live shorter than a normal.. a black molly or white normally live the longest I have found due to them not being enhanced that much but you do get some like the baloon molly or the lyretail that dont livelong at all.

we've got two mollies - both are sailfin crosses, both mental and both are currently clocking up 2 years so far (we originally had their mother who died during birth...) thinking of kidnapping them to put into my tank (they are currently at the other half's parents house as they have forbidden us to take them... grrr) cos they're lovely fellas!
