Spike After Adding Fish

Hi Guys,

Iv recently setup my 4ft tank and it came with a well matured filter.
Well the other day it started to leak so i managed to fix it but not very well so iv hooked up my Rene xp3 on there to,

After adding my Ghost Knife Fish i tested the water and the ammonia is 0.25ppm, Iv just completed a near 50% water change,

Should i worry or will the filter catch up soon. I have both filters running

How long was the " mature" filter running with out fish or being fed? How many fish were in the mature filters tank before you moved it?

If the Mature filter was left over a week or 4 days with out food it will die off.

If the filter that came from the 4 foot tank is truly mature, it will recover very quickly.

it was left about 2 hours but is external to and left in tank water, so wll it recover its self.

did you let the water from the bag the fish was in in the tank?

As long as the filter media stayed moist. it will recover.
