Speeding Up A Cycle

Using the tanks own filter media and nutrafin cycle and deconditioner, nothing else so far.

Although my test kit and 50w heater turned up today, so can get to testing later on. Now, this will be confusing for me (1st time in measuring cycles). So, would the below be correct readings for testing;

ph - 6.5 - 8.5
Nitrate - up to 50
Nitrite - 0
Ammonia - 0-6

OK so I tested the water today, minus the nitrite/nitrate.

Ammonia 0.2
ph 8 (this is the same reading from the water in my tap)

Is that ok so far? I am waiting for my other test kit to arrive x

I don't think that will work. The Nutrafin Cycle won't do anything. Without an ammonia source, the few autotrophic bacteria that happen to be in the tap water will not attach and begin to create larger colonies. Most of the members rather enjoy the adventure of hearing the story of where each newcomer finds their plain household ammonia. Usually its in the mop and broom section of stores. In the UK (is that where you are?) it seems Boots is first choice, then Homebase, then B&K and a few others.

Yeah, I'm in the UK but kinda out in the sticks but I have 2 garden centers near me. I am gonna take a trip down to them this weekend, as well as looking for roof slates, so that I can build my BN a little home

I don't know who owns this site but I thought before that maybe you could think about offering a service where you sell Ammonia? Itprob wouldn't make a lot of money but you'd be offering a good service to newbies. You can do it with like a cycling fact sheet.
