Spawn Diary - Wilmer And Betty!

FINALLY! My very first spawn!!

I have a funny story to share first. I went over to Fishykisses' a couple weeks ago to help her sex some of her bettas and pick up a few for myself. Gosh.. we spent a long time trying to sex them didn't we Connie? We *thought* she only had one male out of that entire spawn. I was supposed to get a male from the spawn but since she only had one, I took two gals (and a cute little copper gal too!) Here's the funny part.. as a few of you might know, FishyKisses discovered a boy trying to spawn with the girls in the grow out tank. That was another male from the spawn! THEN I noticed that my girl "Wilma" made an impressive bubble nest. I could have sworn that I saw an egg spot! I decided to set her up (as the male) in a breeding tank with Betty.. just to see if I could clear up the confusion. Betty barred up right away and "Wilma" made one heck of a nest!! Looks like "Wilma" is really a "Wilmer"

I figured "eh, why not?" and released Betty last night. By the morning, they were already spawning!! WOOHOO!! My first spawn! I don't know how many eggs there are.. they were already spawning by the time I woke up.. and I gave them an extra hour before I seperated them.

Since this is F2, I'm expecting a fair bit of PKs (they came from a PK/SD spawn).. and here's hopin' that I get one that looks like FishyKisses' Kaden!

Awwww love the video of them. I don't get to see the eggs when my gouramies spawn despite watching them, since their eggs naturally float anyway. But when I get my HM's going am gonna be well excited.

Wow, that video is amazing, it has really inspired me too breed bettas, but I only have a 2G tank, and i'd have nothing to keep them all seperated either!

WOW, Ashley! I'm so excited for you!!! The parents are beautiful, they have such bright colors . That looks like a TONNE of eggs! Good luck with all of them!


Also, Neal... it is really beautiful to see them spawn, but that's the easy part, honestly. Don't jump into spawning with a 2G!!! You should definitely get plenty of Betta experience and find a great pair, as it is lots of work your first time.

CONGRATS ASHLEY! That's amazing! I read the title, and I was like.."Did she get ANOTHER betta?!?" Then I rememberd about 'Wilma'...hoyl jeez. I got all confused, then read the post! Hoping for MANNNY updates and pics in the near future! THATS AWESOME!
