Hang the air pump by a string, no transfer of vibration.

Tolak is on to something. With noisy air pumps I have taken either cheesecloth or a cotton pillow case and wrapped it around the air pump and then fastened the pillowcase to the underside of my stand so the airpump is hanging. Zero noise - stays cool and I have more floor space left for other fishy stuff!

Thanks for the idea but the air pump itself is making the loudish vibration noise, the noise transfering doesn't seem to be a problem.
