Something With Festivum

Hi, if the festivum is in a 10g with 2 kribs and a sev I imagine the nervousness will be because the tank is over crowded with teritorial fish and I am going to guess the festivum will be bottom in the pecking order. I know this is only temporary but its obviously affecting him in a bad way here.

Also I can not stress enough how important it is that you dont put the festivum in a 27g with Julidochromis that is a really really bad idea. I would get some apistos or bolivian rams to go with the festivum in a 27g. Mixing riverine africans with south americans is never ever a good idea except in a few situations and this is not one of them. I kind of agree with Bricko about the 50g thing being ideal but I think a tank around the 30g mark is an absolute minimum.

I would do this upgrade as soon as possible because the stress can only lead to bad things like disease and death. And wait till you get a bigger tank before you get dithers but they will help to bring them out of their shell a bit.

Wills

Well my parents will never allow me to have a 55g because they say a 30g is "big enough".

But then again they dont know anything about fish or aquarium. well my mom alittle. but they shouldn't be bossing me around.
(it kinda gets annoying)
And Yes i Was going to get a bigger tank than 27g. but my mom got into a snit and said "we have a perfectly good tank at home"
and i said "no. not really" and ya that kinda set her off.

So im pretty much SOL.

Anyway do you guys think i should get rid of the festivum and just get the Julidochromis?
(id also be getting rid of the sev and the kribs maybe

I dont know anything about africans so cant say if they are suited to the a 30g. But certainly rehome the sev no way at all they can be in a 10g or a 30g kribs would be good in a 30g and theres a possibility they could work with the festivum but that would be your lot cichlid wise.

I honestly dont know its a total different side of the hobby, I would start a post over there and ask. But as far as I know you are limited to just the cichlids like a colony of them. And you need rockwork and crushed coral for them to live in. If you want to keep it more a community tank keep it SA/CA cos it is actually possible but with africans its a bit harder as they are so aggressive and you just cant keep things like schooling fish or small catfish. I believe plecs are do able and so are synodontis but like I say I dont even know if the jullies are suitable for a 3ft tank due to the agression issues.
