Some Suggestions On Tank Layout.

Hi guys,

After getting my mystery plant Identified ( thanks again) im hoping to grow some within the tank to get a more natural feeling.

However looking at my tank and then some pictures on these forums i realise i do seem to suck at layouts ! :blush:

My Lil Tank

What suggestions would you have as to either additions or replace things that I have already.

I guess the theme I really want to achieve is some kind of river bed look, i am prepared to spend some ££ on things to get it up to scratch.

My one thought would be to get another piece of wood, possibly Moss wood and then build around that.

I would of thought there would have been some kind of design software these days but alas I cant find any ( possible neesh ? ).

If you're going for a riverbed look you'll probably be after some big, smooth stones, possibly some slate, and a nice piece or two of bogwood or root-looking piece, perhaps?

I'd definitely get some plants in there to make it look more natural and give some cover for the fish. I've found it super easy to grow vallis, amazon swords and java fern with no technical equipment or know-how at all

Java moss is supposedly very easy to grow on rocks or wood so that might be an option too.

One thing I ahve noticed is my plants grow a million times better in sand, and it looks pretty good too

No need to worry about sand now that you've got gravel.Plants will happily grow in both.
Whilst i'm no expert, do you know what the plant front left is.Not sure it's aquatic

ok thanks for the advice ill make a note of those plant names :good:

yer im not going back to sand right now, but i may consider adding some "sand" areas prehaps.

the plant front left is a fake one, i think its actually some kind of marine tank look-alike plant tbh.
