Some Proper Livebearers

I just re-read my post.  Wasn't meant as callous as it sounded!  My apologies!  It does sort of blow my mind when you guys just spew off those names like you are saying bat or ball.  :)  Sorry if I offended you!  Not my intent!  They are very beautiful fish and I am sure up in my neck of the woods... I would never find them.

The male is the sparkly one.

Characodon Lateralis are a little bit on the territorial side so are best kept in groups,
A minimum tank of 60l will be suitable for  2 or 3 adult  pairs,

Am I right in thinking that there isn't anything suitable for such a small tank in Goodeids? I've done L. Tridens & G. Falcatus, so not really fancying poecilids again.

There are a few. Skiffia bilineata are, some Allotoca's are fine in small aquaria, but we just like to give them lots of room

Do you have any piccies of the Allotocas, as Seriously Fish don't list them. Thanks.

Any idea why the gonopodium on these has evolved to be so darn long? When I first received my G. Falcatus, it amazed me.

Would love to see more species of swordtails available. Would love to have kept Montezumae, nearly did before i lost all my tanks and had to pass on the chance. Mind you... i name them because its the only species i remember, there were several swords i really liked the look of.

Loved the Ameca Splendens for their behaviour, had a lovely family group of these and was great how they all interected.

This is a great thread fish48 although when I read the title I did think to myself-what? are ours fake then? :p
I remember seeing a grey striped fish in the garden centre which was called an American livebearer. I wish I had taken a pic of it.
