Me: Daddy, can I get a 10 gallon tank?
Dad: Maybe...What would you put in it?
Me: I would love to get some albino cory catfish, we used to have a few.
Dad: That sounds like a good idea!
Me: Does that mean I can get it?
Dad: No! You mom would kill me!

There have been many more conversations just like that with my mom, but she would be saying "No, your dad would kill me!"

this topic is soo funny, I dont really have a problem, my fiance is a fish fanatic and we just got a 15 gallon at mo. I have really gotten into the whole loving fish thing and I said to him so when we upgrading our tank? He said no way. And to think he begged me to get the tank. I offered... Stil waiting to get my upgrade could always get another tank to go beside my other one. he he :p

hi this is niks girlfriend i would just like to say that i don't know what he is talking about we both want it and i am paying a lot for it as a belated birthday prezzi i love our fish.
hehe

Even though I don't live at home, I get the grief from my fiance.

Him: OMG not ANOTHER BETTA???????
Me: But honey, this one has no tail, he needs me
Him: Where are you going to put him?
Me: in the 1G tank you brought home for me yesterday
Him: DOH!

I get death stares everytime we go near a fish store. I promise not to buy anymore, but........I'm addicted. He puts up with it cause I do all the work and he gets to look at 8 tanks and do none of the work!

okay, so now I want to switch my 20 to my 29, but the father says no. I have no idea why, it is not like it will be more power or anything, I use all the 29 gallon stuff anyways.

Oh, and he did let me get some more cichlids, 4, and he payed for them.

My parents didn't want me to get the 34g. They said 'Stick with the 15g!'
Grandparents bought me the 34g instead. :D

It's still in the garage waiting to be set up, and I was looking at it the other day going 'Dammit, I want a bigger tank.' Nana just looked at me and started laughing, and she goes 'Is the tank you work in not big enough? You have SIX dolphins in there, not to mention all the walruses and sea lions and seals backstage!'

I don't think she realizes that having a big tank in my room with lots of fish and having a gigantic tank at work with 6 dolphins isn't the same thing. I work with the dolphins, not a tank at home. And as much as I love them, the food I feed my fish at home is a hell of a lot nicer to deal with than dead smelly herring.

I made a compromise with them. They stop complaining about me working at Marineland [it's a 30 minute drive to get paid minimum wage, but DOLPHINS!] and getting a job closer to home, and I'll stop complaining about a bigger tank. :D

My Rents' are the same.

When I had CGAE and they were Adults, they were my Rents' Fave Fish, as they were the most visible - always darting around the tank.

They Really Liked the Parrots aswell. They enjoyed watching Jamelia Rearranging the tank Plants and Sand to just the way she liked it. And watching her attack me when moving it all back into place again.

But they always moan about me getting new fish. But then ask me to get more of the 1's they like the best.

The tank is more for them, in the evenings i can hear them talking about the fish. Commenting about what they have got up to during the day. Since my Mum only works nights and does 3 nights a week. She spends the most time watching the tank during the Day.

I had them Convinced that Bumble Bee Gobies were the CGAE Babies at one Point.

Everytime i come home from work with something, or i order something new my mum is like "You always want and need more dont you, you can never be happy with what you have".

I take her out on the offensive pointing out that it is my JOB, my HOBBY and my ONLY real outgoing (i dont drink or go out clubbing!).. and she quickly shuts up.

After all, in a different life i could have spent the £400 ive just spent setting up a 6x2x2ft tank on some Heroin or pills, then would she be happy? I think not....

that's a way many teens spend there money. its a shame that ppl. abuse themselves like that.

but if you have a job you should be able to spend your money on what ever fish stuf you like.

every time i get a bigger tank my dad says what tank you closing down insetad then..

i usually close down a small tank for a while but then quickly find a new use for it with only my tanks growing.

it was quite funny when 1 day i came home with a viv then that night i went out to pick up my lizards!!

now when ever i rbing stuff home from work he says whats that...?? he still asks each time but don't really care about the answer.

he can't complain he shows my tanks and stingrays off to mates

this thread is hilarious

i dont neccisarily have alot of tanks just jars since i beed bettas my dad is very understanding BUT also very cheap

me i need so and so part for my tank by tomorrow
him if you give me a week ill find it online for 15$ less (witch he usualy spends on shipping)
but usualy if i need it bad enough he will buy it for me but i want a bigger tank like a 55 but all i ever get is where would you put it theres no room in you room
my responce there is alway room for another fish tank lol

lol, I hate tanks in my room, the filters are always noisey, thats why I only have my 5 gallon in there, plus my bettas. I keep in in a row on some dressers, and I call it betta row.

my mom tells me how crazt I am to want to buy all that "crap" as she calls it. That's a pretty funny story bout ur dad WRS!
