Some Great Unusual Fish In Lfs Today

Just got back from MH@Trowell. I bought some pygmy cories and glass shrimp as friends for my betta, but they had loads of stuff I've never seen before.
Gold tetras, these were awesome, really looked like metallic gold. Only £2 though.
Blue tetras, pale with a blue iridescence, very nice.
Javanese rice fish, pretty little fish, not something I've seen in the flesh before.
Black cories, these were really, really amazing. Totally smooth, deep black. £22 each-ouch!
Electric blue rams-wow! In real life, these are stunning-£20 each!
Plakat bettas, metallic gold, double tails. I saw these last time and couldn't understand why he was still there. £24, that would be why!
And loads of fairly standard fish in really good shape, displaying and looking tip top. Serpae and black widow tetras (neither of which have ever really interested me before) featherfin rainbows and dwarf gouramis.
I spent nearly an hour there and really enjoyed myself

isnt it great when you walk into an lfs and its like that. all too often its the other way. or at least it is round these parts there are within easy distance of me 1 is reasonable but has very poor selection , 1 has pretty good choice but is seriously over-priced ( example 3 inch heros severus £45 ) and the other which is still excellent for daphnia etc used to be really good but these days every time i go in several of the tanks are riddled with ich .

Local one I went into also had some blue electric rams. Was very tempted by them but my tank is pretty new so not worth the risk.

the prices at MH@Trowell are stupid.... i went about 2 months ago and indeed the tanks look clean and they had fish that looked healthy but where they get the prices from is beyond me!!!!!!!

like you said black corys for £22 each, gold stripe corys for £22 each, small red spotted sevs for £20 each etc etc. i went for the corys and walked out empty handed as i wasnt prepared to pay their prices. MH@Stapleton near me sold me gold stripe corys at £9 each so i thought i would make the trip to Nottingham to increase my numbers as they seem to be the only place selling them expecting them to be a similar price its tought me to ring and enquire before making trips throughout the country.....

their stock must sit in the tanks for ages.
