Some Fish In A Group Have Died

Well I had 5 Yoyo loaches, and three of them have died. They seem to have not eaten much..but in saying that the two surviving ones are huge.

I have read that they can get a bit "boisterous" but of all my fish they seem the most shy/timid.

Now my real question is that because they should be in groups should I add new ones? the two surviving ones are about 2 inchs they ones at my LFS are about 2 cms and thin.

Im also not sure if I want them if they are so finicky but I want the surviving ones to thrive

im really stuck as what to do :\

Are the ones at the LFS thin as in young and slim or thin as in skinny?

most likely thin and young about 2cm in length and 2-3mm in width, should I add some more? will the two existing ones accept them?

Before you go out to replace them, have you checked your water stats? Do you have an incling to why they died?

The last thing you wanna do is to go out and buy more, only to add them in and the same thing happens x

Agreed with Beth, I would do several water checks before adding more.

I would let your tank settle for a week before adding more, your 2 existing Yoyo's will be fine alone for the time being

I have done weekly checks of my tank since it cycled in december last year and there are no problems with the statisics, 0 ammonia, nitrite, 5 nitrates, ph 7 kH 6 drops.

I introduced all five in january and they were all fine but they have been dying mysteriously. All my other fish are growing well but the yoyos seem to struggle.

The two bigger ones seem alright, they are obvioulsy growing because they are getting bigger, but they never come to the surface (scavangers) unless i feed them worms.

i think the cause of death is either starvation or stress but in saying that yoyos tend to go pale when they are stressed which none of mine have shown. They just lie around on their stomachs and backs (which they naturally do)

I doubt they need more hiding places as there is sufficient space in my bogwood and my tank is planted

i just wish I could figure it out, I havent noticed any disease or anything on them either
