As you may know I plan on starting a NPT (Walstad) in my 10 gallon soon. I wanted to try a different stocking. I know I can't get too ambitious as it's small. Could anyone suggest some stocking ideas? The only requirement is that there needs to be 1 Male Betta as I'm keeping him in there and don't want him back in the 1 gal bowl. I know that restricts it a little but try your best! Here's one of my ideas:

1 Male Betta + 7? (Is that a good number) Pygmy Cories + Some third fish (Could you help me out here?)

Does this seem like a good idea? Anyone else got any ideas?

[sup]How about:[/sup]
[sup]1 Male Betta + 4 Dwarf Cories + 4 Kuhli Loaches?[/sup]
or
1 Male Betta, 6 Dwarf Rasboras, 4 Pygmy Cories
[sup]Anyone else have any ideas?[/sup]

kuhli loaches get too big and dwarf cories do better in groups of at least 10

I'd stick with smaller schooling fish such as microrasboras and glow light tetras. Obviously 10 gallons gives you a big restriction on stocking, it'd probably be best off to have the betta and 1 school of 6-8 fish, and maybe a few endlers livebearers depending on the temperament of your betta and how often you want to change the water.

also keep in mind that pygmy cories explore the entirety of the tank, not just the bottom. They can kind of be considered mid water dwelling fish.

A Betta in a 40l (10 US gallon) tank would be very happy by itself.

According to the compatibility chart I can have my Betta and 6 (Which I think is a fine #) Panda Cories and some 3rd fish. What would the 3rd fish be?

So here's what I'm doing...
1 Male Betta + 7 Panda Cories + 3 Male Endlers

Here's a picture. I know it can't be 100 percent accurate but...

That stocking amount (~45cm of adult fish) is far more in line with a responsibly stocked 60-80l tank, rather than a 40l. In addition, Corydoras panda is not a tropical catfish, it needs cooler conditions than a Betta.

1 Betta, 6/8 ember tetras & some shrimp.
Or 1 Betta, 6 endlers
Tbh I wouldn't have any corys in a tank that sixe

I'm with Cazgar on this one

pygmy cories are good for a 10 gallon tank size wise, but so are zebra danios, and people get on everyone's #17##### about zebra danios being kept in small tanks all the time. Pygmy cories deserve much bigger groups and more room than a 10 gallon can provide imo.
