I think that they'll be fine because in a 10 gallon 8 of them will be enough so that they'll never be lonely and some people even keep groups of 4 with the fish being perfectly happy.
There'll be tons of hiding places for them to hideout.
The tank won't have to be mature because the plants will easily be able to handle any ammonia that the cories introduce.
They'll be fed well and I can do plenty of water changes if I have to which shouldn't be necessary because in a NPT you apparently need to do water changes every few months once the plants get established and you won't even need a filter once the plants have taken over.
I believe that I've come pretty close to making a final decision. Any more input on stocking ideas will be greatly appreciated.
