So Tired Of Gravel !

Hey Everyone i have been using gravel for years and i never really thought about using sand. I have a 10g tank right now......Is the ANY POSSIBLE WAY i can some how switch the

gravel out i have now and use sand. I know this sounds crazy but its just a thought.

Gravel vac the gravel, then net the gravel out, rinse the sand in a bucket till it rinses clear, then add the sand to the tank in cupfuls.

REALLY !! i figured i couldn't do something like that wouldn't the sand float around ? well ill research it a bit more and if it looks good ill do it thank youuu

i did that to a 15G tank, a bit floated but i just scooped it out and rinsed the filter pads after it had all settled.

is it okay if i leave the fish in there i just dont want any problems i love my bloodfins i had them since they where little. now there Fat american Bloodfins =). So i guess i would just take all the decor out take out all the gravel rinse the sand down and just put it in a little at a time ?

Just make sure you rinse the sand really well, if you have to just half of it at a time, swirl your hand in it really good to stir it up and just keeping rinsing till the water runs clear.

I would also make sure you gravel vac first, so you don't have all that poop flying about when you take the gravel out.

No you will need to remove the fish as leaving them in will cause alot more stress, you can put the old tank water into a bucket add the filter and heater then net the fish and put them in the bucket. They can be added back to the tank when you have it all set up and the water clearish.

I have changed substrate twice now, first time from gravel to sand, just as NinjaSmurf advised, also recently changed the tank design/scape and done this the way Floydsmum described, better second time round cos was sand coming out and a different sand going in, very very cloudy, didn't take the fish too long to settle in so don't worry too much, all good
