So, Tahitian Moon Sand

I know I've asked this before, but I'm actually in a position to buy some now and I'm not convinced. It is sand right, like playsand grain sized? I'm looking at pictures like this one

and the grains look a lot bigger. I have a bag of something that looks very similar from my LFS a lot cheaper. Is it suitable for cories? It looks very angular?

It doesn't look like actual sand does it? I'm planning on having it over compost, so sand would keep that covered better and if it's angular, not sure how that would be for cories which I really want.

Tahitian moon sand is different to the one pictured, that is more of a glass based. I have had tahitian moon sand in the past and it is is very fine

I really like it. I use regular sand from a pond near my house in my tanks now but i'll be putting Tahitian Moon Sand in my next tank.

Hmmm, maybe I need to be careful where I get it from then as everything that comes up when I google tms looks like that.

I really wish I had somewhere close by that sold it so I could have a look. The caribsea website says it's not soft belly friendly or burrower friendly, so I suppose that would rule it out for cories

Charterhouse aquatics sell it, it's not actually sand, it's very fine gravel, about 1mm-2mm grain size.

Thanks truck, I suspected as much. I'm also looking at seachem's fluorite sand as that has some nutritional content too.

Well, I've got some. It's unipac and labelled black sand. It does look dark grey, although darker than the stuff I've had previously. They had some in a display tank and they kindly took a bit out and held it in the water so I could see it wet and it was very nearly black. So I'm going with that with some compost underneath and we'll see how we go
I took my dad to trowell and then to wharf on the way home. He had marines about 30 years ago and tropicals after that. He was in awe at everything, but his favourite thing of the day was the pile of bogwood on the yard at wharf. I think he could have been there for days!

No, not the limpopo, that's like a mix of darker and lighter grains isn't it? This is pretty uniform in colour. It's the bag size unipac call medium, about 2ftx1ft I'd say. It was £10. Saw it at wharf too, where it was £12, so I was smug
