Well a bit of an update on my tank....


I have planted 12 bunches of assorted plants...

Please don't ask me to name them...

But I'm assured they will grow under my single 40W 5500k tube....

the water has cleared loads... have cleaned to fine residue off the tank sides....

the water still is not clear.. has a certain light milkyness too it...

Have also changed by filter set up...

Gone is the trickle filter... it was evaporating way to much....

2-3mm a day from a 248 litre tank.....

So the Fluvan U4 is still there which I understand can filter the tank by itself..

I have added a Fluvan 305 cannister unit under the tank... another 6 litres of water ...
the thinking on that is in time I can use its trays to add medium to control Nitrate or what ever... for now its in factory set up !

I have chatted with both a local specialist fish shop (Smithdown Aquatics) all they sell is fish and have been going 20 years that I know of, so I think they are probably OK....

When I asked about "stuff" in a general chat they did not try and flog me anything....

They suggest either Platy some Dannios as first fish and recon with over 200 litres of water and plants that I should be fine with what I guess you guys call "fish in cycling".....

This cloudyness......

I'm guessing it just clears one day ?

for "fish in" cycling do I wait for the tank to clear first

I also spoke to a good mate of mine who has a vet as a girlfriend....

what did she do with her tank...

set it up... plastic plants... 1 week later some fish....

2 years later same fish !!
