So Many Things Going Wrong!

Bleaching beneath the skin is columnaris.
There also false ntd which is columnaris.

Saddle back columnaris goes along the back of the fish and down the sides of the fish to form a saddle shape on the fish.

If things don't improve with the med get back to the board.

ok thanks. thats what this tetra had. the black molly has bleached spots, and you know i've had probs with both black mollies recently as you've helped a lot.
will get back with progress in a few days. thanks wilder :good:

oh dear, this morning the black molly isnt looking good, as you can see. i had raised the temp yesterday coz of suspected whitespot, but i think thats just made things worse. so it must be columnaris - i read in the links yu gave me that columnaris gets worse quicker if temp is above 25c, and obviously with it beiny 30c in there now.....so anyway im forgetting about the ich lifecycle for now and have turned the thermometer down to 25c. I guess it'll take a while.

She still eating and swimming fine, just now has these eye probs, cloudy in areas (not all over) and cysts

ETA Ive taken all the plants out, dumped the sand sustrate, thoroughly cleaned the tank, and done a 100% water change, adding back the antibac meds and salt.

It's a no win situation. If you raise the temp the columnaris gets worse. If you lower the temp it will take longer to get rid of the whitespot.

Let me know how you get on if you don't mind.
Hope the fish pull throw.
Good Luck.

Tell me about it! I think its better to take longer and (hopefully) treat the columnaris.

Ok this morning 3 of the tetras were swimming with their heads down, they perked up when food arrived though  (is this swimbladder?) 1 is in the coconut cave on its own,so im assuming that one's gonna die next  Some of the others are losing their solid red colour and its going slightly seethrough with an orange tinge. Another one has what looks like possible internal bleeding as the red has a darker patch in it.
None of them are swimmming around as normal, theyre just kinda hovering in one place together. I do have pics but they didnt pick up what im talking about well

Hello,

Sorry to hear that you have been having severe problems..

I'd recommend that when you've sorted out the problems with the fish (not easy, I do appreciate!) that you fully "take down" your tanks.
Assume that **everything** is contaminated until it is cleaned/sterilised.

I'd remove **everything**, wash everything very well firstly with water, then with a strong salt solution, then with a dilute bleach solution.
Finally, rinse everything very well with clean water and leave to **fully** air dry (this bit is as important as the rest!). I'd change all of your filter media (I'd boil any ceramic rings if you use them). Don't forget to clean any pipework and all other equipment (jugs, buckets, nets etc.)

Obviously, you will now be looking at cycling your tanks from scratch.. When you return the fish to each tank, try to avoid adding any water from the holding tank. I'd net them to an intermediate container and then from there to the tank.

Finally I'd recommend that you seriously consider investing in a UV steriliser. I personally use them on all of my tanks as I consider them essential. I've had no problems with fish health at all since I started using them.

Others will have other opinions and suggestions to make.

Good luck!

Have the neons lost colour on the whole body, or just the red stripe area.

Keep a look out for these symtoms.

Signs Of Neon Tetra Desease

Bleached out red stripe area, milky substance on red stripe area.
Golden yellow colour on the blue area of the neon.
Black linning around the red area, and tail.
Blackness to the fish.
Lumps that go to a point.
Fish being restless, and leaving the shoal.
Swimming in an odd manor, also not being able to maintain balance in the water.
Weighloss, looking skinny.
Bent spine.
Dropsy and popeye.

The 3 which have left the shoal have then died the following day :/ There were 3 'swimming' vertically this morning. No other symptoms (yet).

Just a thought - can neons tolerate salt water or not?

Ok.
I wouldn't worry then at the minute.

No change with the tetras today. Mrs Molly is looking a bit worse again though - she has a white area of scales come up in the same area she had problems about 6 weeks ago - it actually looks like its peeling away. The cysts on/around her eyes have gone down (but not gone) and her pop-eye has reduced, also the cloudiness. (she looks like she has pineconing on her body scales but she doesnt, its just some odd discolouration)
This is what she looked like this morning.

ohhhhhh not good - just checked on tank before going to bed - all of the tetras have lost their colour, on body, red stripe, and most of them the blue stripe too. they look kinda peach and pale blue now  not good eh. im expecting to wake up to a tank full of dead fish to be honest :/ would take pics but son has hidden camera :grr: will update in the morning.

well this morning their colour has returned  one was 'swimming' on its side in the coconut cave, one vertically head down, until the food arrived then they all came together again. i can only assume this blip was caused by the last dose of protozin going in :/
molly looks the same as yesterday.
now
i am concerned that theyre all showing these strange illnesses but i cant give them any more meds now
