So Annoying/ Frustrating

i was bored today so i went off round all the lakes rivers etc to find that big centrepice bogwood ive been after. i found sat in the shallows of the last lake i visited this stonker of a piece .

lugged it back to the car got it home scrubbed it with boiling water cleaned it all up etc took ages then took everything out of the tank. ( now bear in mind this bit of wood is 2 foot tall about 18 inches wide at the top and the bottom trunk is a good 8 inch diameter and it weighs a good 5 or 6 kg ) put it in and IT FLOATS LIKE AN ****** CORK!!!!!!!

i rekon its gonna need a good few months soaking to get it to sink if it ever does. right now i just thinking about chucking the bloody thing.

is it even worth trying to soak?

It's a nice piece, would be a shame to lose it.

You could try attaching rocks to it until it sinks.... I've even heard of some people siliconing their bogwood to the bottom of the tank.

was it in the lake when you found it?

i may try soaking it in a plastic dustbin. as for weighing it down that would take a fair bit of weight as when i was pushing it down with my hand it was pushing back up just as hard . not keen on the idea of siliconing it to the bottom of the tank . i wouldnt be able to anyway as its an established tank its going in and id have to drain it right down to do that

try coring it 3/4 deep fill it with gravel and cut a piece of the core off and use that to cap it off so you dont see the gravel or stones just an idea mate

not really cos my tank is 2 foot deep and 2 foot front to back so it sat just nicely ( until i took my hand off it that is )

would concrete be toxic to fish ? im thinking 1 of 2 options. either a make a really big hole in it like jay suggested and fill that hole with concrete ( gravel wouldnt be heavy enough) . or put it on ebay ( of course being honest and saying it will need soaking to fully sink) have seen bits like this go on ebay for around 50 quid

Lol wish i had a lake with bits of bog wood like that floating about they charge like 15 quid for little bits of wood in my lfs i would defo flog it on ebay m8 and buy ya self some fish goodies with the profit
