take a piece of lettuce and a mason jar/cup/tupperwear, put the lettuce in the cup and the cup in the tank at sunset. In the morning take out the cup and dump the lettuce in the trash. If you want to keep any snails pick off a couple and drop them back in. I don't know if this works from personal experience but It's what I am planning on doing when my snails hatch
