It's worth bearing in mind that while the snails almost definitely came in on the plants, overfeeding only enables them to breed more quickly. Overfeeding doesn't CAUSE snails to appear, but it helps them to survive once they're there.

Assassin snails will quickly starve to death without a steady food supply

Blimey, last week I had to dsiagree with Fluttermoth, this week it's you.

Kat, you're implying here that without pest snails, the assassins will quickly starve, however, assassins will happily eat wafer food. Many a time I watched my cories and assassins fighting over a wafer - the cories would nudge the snails out of the way to get at the food.

I was on about *any* food, not only snails so you are not disagreeing at all. I was implying that without snails, they would need to be fed foods which they can access (for example, as you say, sinking Cory food).
