ok-im relatively new at all of this and this may be a LOL question for some!
I have an oscar and catfish i am treating for HITH. i was told not to medicate inverts so i took 3 large golden snails out. They seem to be sloughing a lot of tissue from their shells. the shells look like they are all scratched or carved up. Is this a form of HITH? Is there a water problem eroding every living cell it touches? my fish store said my water tested ok, but i bought a test kit to try for myself. advice?

Well what were your water parameters then? HITH is usualy associated with an internal parasite but it hasn't been agreed upon yet. Usualy the main cause is from bad water quality - with secondary infections resulting. I'm not sure whether snails can get it though I've herd of this before - I'd suggest to keep them seperate and make sure your tank is not over-stocked. What size tank is the oscar and 'catfish' in? What is the catfish?
