Hi guys, I have 2 Chinese Algae eaters one is about an inch, and the other is about half an inch.
Anyways, I also have 2 Apple Snails, 1 Black and 1 Gold. They are very active and outgoing, but the big algae eater likes to suck on their shells, which draws them back into their shells. After that happens they always go back out. This happens fairly often.

The question is, are the CAE going to harm the snails in anyway?

algae eaters wont prey upon snails although when they age they get more agressive and could be a threat to any fish in that matter.

The only harm that the sucker fish might do to the snails is actually damaging the shell by rasping at it, or if they should happen to get a hold of part of the snail and manage to munch on that.
Chinese algea eaters do get more aggressive as they mature and tend to eat less algea as the get bigger.
