does anybody know of any small fast predatory fish that can be housed in a 10 or a 18 gallon? im trying to go for a single fish for the tank. i was thinking about a sa puffer, but im lookin for something more streamlined

what do you mean by small
and what do you mean by predatory?

a lot of fish are predatory when it comes to insects
are you after a fish that eats other fish?

Shelldwelllers are among the smallest predatory fish but like The-Wolf said, they are predatory on insects (like virtually every fish that could go into a tank up to 20g), and the occasional fry of other fish.

theres some sort of pike cichlid, thats predatory, streamlined, and looks really nice, and i believe that they are livebearers, not too sure on this though  , and not sure if they are ok in an 18gal, search it on the web you will find lots of info.

as guppy man said the pike cichlids, in particular the dwarf pikes
Crenicichla compressiceps
C. notophthalmus
C. regani

they stay small, are most definetly predators (though you do need small prey, eg fry)

by small i mean like able to fit into a 10 or 18 gallon. the bigger it is the better though i want it to be able to handle a large night crawler and if it can handle another fish like a small silverside or something, thatll be better. i already have plenty of betta =) i was thinking about a leaf fish, but i dont really like feeding live fish to other fish. dwarf pikes seem interesting though. i would get a bichir, but they require at least a 29 long. do you guys know how much a dwarf pike usually goes for?

I'm thinking a male Belonesox belizanus or two
females reach 9" so maybe to big but males stay around 4"
