Hi guys,

I’m new to this hobby and have been doing a lot of research, both online and in stores. I’ve been told different things pretty much everywhere I go.

I’ve got a 55 Litre tank set up, and i’m definitely getting a betta fish. Are there any small oddball fish you would recommend?

I have a fairly plain tank set up, with live plants, and some places for the fish to hide (i’m yet to stock any). I’d like some brightly coloured fish, and almost want it to look similar to the effect a marine tank gives off, without it being marine.

Any recommendations to what i could stock with a betta fish would be greatly appreciated.

I looked into a pygmy puffer, but now unsure whether to try or not as i don’t want to wake up and any of my fish be poorly.

Any advice/ recommendations are highly appreciated.

Male Bettas are solitary fish and best kept that way, you could try shrimp ( he may eat some ) snails, a BN pleco, or Kuhli loaches, But there is no guarantee it will work, Plus you need a lot more plants for a betta.
