Thats about it. One of the male guppies in my male tank is moving as though in slow motion. He is doing everything he would normally do, just really slowly. My male tank is normally very active so its strange to see him moving so slowly. I don't know what it could be as there are no other symptoms.

Water stats are stable and normal... ammonia being somewhere between 0 - 0.25. I'll just the water later but I don't think thats it.

Size of tank in gallons?
How many fish and which type?
Nitrite, nitrate, ph?
Full stocking list?
Brand name of test kit?

A just need to ask you some questions.

Does the guppy look bloated, or thin?
Does the guppy look pale, or darker in colour?
Can the guppy maintain it's balance in the water?
Does the guppy turn upside down?
Does the guppy point his nose down, tip the rest of his body upwards. Like he head standing?
Is the guppy resting for long periods of time on the bottom of the tank?
What does it look like when he goes to the toilet?
Are his eyes swollen, or bulging out?
Is the guppy swimming in place, shimmering?

Size of tank in gallons? Never calculated the gallons, 60 litres though
How many fish and which type? 7 adult male guppies and 2 2 month old male guppies
Nitrite, nitrate, ph? 0, about 10, 7.6ish
Full stocking list? Sorry, not sure what this question is, isn't the same of how many fish?
Brand name of test kit? Not sure, Tetra maybe, just answering quickly before getting the kids ready for school.

A just need to ask you some questions.

Does the guppy look bloated, or thin? No, normal robust size (he is a big boy actually)
Does the guppy look pale, or darker in colour? Normal coloring
Can the guppy maintain it's balance in the water? Mostly, if he goes through the flow from the filter his tail goes up a bit more than it usually would.
Does the guppy turn upside down? No
Does the guppy point his nose down, tip the rest of his body upwards. Like he head standing? No
Is the guppy resting for long periods of time on the bottom of the tank? No, still swimming around just really slowly.
What does it look like when he goes to the toilet? He's going less but looks normal
Are his eyes swollen, or bulging out? No
Is the guppy swimming in place, shimmering? From time to time but not constantly.

Just asking, have you had a tank that has been contaminated before with a disease or a bug or something?

I have but it was my 3 foot tank not this one. My 3 foot tank got completely wiped out a few months back (different symptoms). Also had a neon tetra get NTD in the 3 foot tank.

But, my 60 litre has been in great shape.

Oh wait, I did think of something that happened in this tank. About a month ago I had a male guppy with a mysterious red line on its belly, looked very much like a vein. In the end I decided to euthanize him in case it was.... oh I forget the name, a type of worm parasite.

Red veining can be septicemia.

You said your other tank had NTD. After maintaining the tank did you sterilize your equipment. Wash your hands.

I will get you some information about shimmies.
We need to rule it out.

Shimmies

Symptoms:

This disease is named for the curious behavior seen in afflicted fish. Fish will swim with an odd, shimmying movement of the body. If left untreated, the afflicted fish will become unable to swim and will sit on the bottom, listlessly shimmying. This disease affects mostly livebearers, and particularly Mollies.

Cause:

Cause unkown but may be due to a variety of numerous pathogens, including protozoan, bacterial, and fungal.

Treatment:

Isolate the fish in a hospital tank and increase the temperature to 85F (27C). Treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic. Also ensure that the water chemistry is within acceptable ranges. Livebearers' should always be kept in water that has a pH of 7.8 - 8.3 and a hardness of 15DH+.

What is DH+? That is in my testing kit.

Forgot to add about my other tank. My syphons got a general cleaning and I always wash my hands. I also don't clean my tanks all on the same day to spread the load better for time.

Also... I am thinking shimmies are seemingly more and more likely as he has started doing it a bit more since I said he didn't do it much.

Antibiotics isn't something I have access to, in fact haven't seen at all in the fish shops. I did decide earlier to salt my tank in hopes that may help... its not been long enough to see any effect though.

DH
degree of General Hardness of water.

If your location is the UK
Anti internal bacteria med by interpet. Only affective on mild bacteria infections,
Furanol 2 by JBL. Good med but knocks your good bacteria in your filter. Would only advise using the medication in isolation,.

I am in the Uk, I may be able to get the one by Interpet then as they sell a lot of their products in one of the fish shops.

Keep us all updated. That's if you don't mind.
Good Luck.

I don't mind, its more a matter of weather I remember or not! None of the notifications work for me on here so I sometimes forget things or lose track of where posts are!

I hope he pulls through, he is my favorite, one of my oldest home reared babies (the one in my avatar). He has also fathered his first baby who was born in August and the spitting image of him at the same age (can't tell which others he may have fathered but no doubt about that one anyway!)

Check your control panel and make sure the right boxes are ticked for notifications.
Also check your email acoount block senders list, to make sure TFF is not being blocked.

He's a lovely looking guppy.
I do hope he pulls throw.

My email settings are right and nothing is being blocked in my email, it used to work then one day it just stopped and hasn't worked since.

Anyhow... new developement. I was going to go out and buy that medication... but this morning looking in my tank my fish has new symptoms. Stringy white poop and two ich spots. I was thinking maybe the dose of salt from yesterday drew them out... so I've dosed my tank for ich.

The spots do they look the size of grain of salt, or bigger?

Feed some shelled peas to see if that clears the long stringy white waste up.
