Stupid Question, But how do you no if your fish are "alseep" or have been sleepinging, i though they were jus less active but i have read a couple things about fish sleeping, do they sleep better with less light or whats the deal? can it stress them out more if they dont have the chance to do whatever it is they do or does it really matter?

I dont think they "sleep" as such but from what I have read they do rest. Mine just tend to float around the middle of the tank only moving enough to stay afloat when all the lights are out . Although my blackmoor prefers to rest in a plant when lights are dimmmed .

I would definatly give your fishes some dark time, :good:

when you go to bed leave the light off. This Will give them time to rest enough.

Mine usually rest on something / at the bottom of the aquarium when the lights are out.

If you come into your fish room at night when the lights are off and suddenly turn the lights on you will see your fish waking up. They will all be hanging out in groups here and there in the tank and will wake up over a few minutes and start swimming around as usual. Fish do indeed sleep and have favorite places where they sleep. Each species seems to have its separate sleeping location. I have no idea how they choose a sleeping spot but when all the endlers sleep in a different location than another species, I am sure there is something about that spot that they like.
