They go well with most cichlids ive hadf mine with over 30 differnt types of cichlids, i wouldnt put it small fish as it will eat neons amd guppes and so on.
They get to over 2ft long so get ready for a large fish. Im told they dont breed untill they are over 1ft long as well. When it comes to eating they are pigs, stay right away beff heart as i lost one of my to it, but all other food they accecpt as well as flake food. They will poke there head out of the water pretty damn far to feed out of yours hands so watch out for your fingers cause they have a large mouth. IMO they go better when there is more than two of them, they seem more relaxed and calm and dont swim around going spastic so much. They like water above 22c but there is no realt water treatment for them as they are a real hardy fish..
