Sinking Bogwood

Got two small peices of bogwood today, but cannot find a way to make them stop floating? any ideas?

hi, after being soaked for a couple of weeks most wood will sink. however, some wood never sinks (like a piece of driftwood in my bro's tank). if it doesn't sink after soaking for a while, then you could silicon/glue a piece of slate to the bottom.

If you do that don't forget to either dip them in or pour over them boiling water before introducing them into your tank.

This will insure no nasties come with them!

Bury them in the soil or use something to hold them down.

it will absorb enough
water in a few days
then it will sink

I've merged the two threads together, so this one may read a little funny. The whole forum has been a little off tonight, lots of double posts and the like recently.

I had one piece that just wouldn't sink - What I did was pre-drill the bottom of the piece of wood afer sawing it square & then got a 2 inch plastic screw to secure in place against the 1/2 inch piece of rock/slate. Cover with sand & the jobs a good one!

I've got one that won't sink.

You know what I did?

I placed a bloody big rock on it.

(it inadvertently made a cave, oddly enough, so i'm keeping it)

Doesn't float no more
