Well I thought I'd try and have a go at a 3D background. My thinking was that all the builds I've seen seem far to complicated.

The other day I realised we had some styrofoam insulation lying around so I got to it....

  1. Peeled of the silver foilĀ
  2. Picked up some York stone piecesĀ
  3. Started to saw down the middle to give it some definitionĀ
  4. Ta Dah!Ā
  5. Now place your pieces of rock on top and place all your weight on top (18St in my case)Ā
  6. Carry on doing this until it takes shapeĀ
  7. To get rid of the dusty cut marks use a paintbrush to brush them away, this takes a while.
  8. Heres the finished shape for now...Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
  9. Sprayed the first attempt with Primer to show definitionĀ Ā Ā
Will be doing the sealing tomorrow hopefully

Looks excellent, i like the look of that.

Well done indeed

Wow! Looks great-very natural. How long did all that take you to do?

wow, wish i made one before filling my tank. is there anyway to make one 1000% tank safe without having to put it in tank with water?

Love it! That is very well done! :)

I've just changed the black back ground on my Betta tank to a brown parcel-post type wrapping paper. I'm liking it so far, but it's laughable compared to what you've accomplished! lol

I didn't know you could use this type of foam. How do you seal it so it water safe. Is the foam safe ?
