Ive had shadow for about a year. he's blue in colour. recently i noticed his face was going black. was told that was normal.
But now he is inactive. just floats on the top with his lips touching the surface dosnt move much. barely moves when i touch him with the magents. he is alive.. but his fins are all droopy and has some white marks on his face. around his eyes his lower frontall fins are bloodshot. and so are his eyes and the bit under his mouth is a little white (his chins) i do a water change every week. and treat the water with stress zyme and stress coat. and he barely eats... what do i do?

can you go into more detail about the white marks? are they puffy, specks?
is he eating normally?
the white marks concern me so the more detail you give the better.
and i know someone else will ask, can you give more details about the tank and water stats please.

Yes we need to know if the tank/bowl is also heated and filtered if you can give us more details of his living quarters and perhaps a pic it will help us greatly, it doesn't sound too good at the moment though I'm afraid.

Do the white spots look like grains of salt sprinkled on the fish? If so, get yourself some ich medication. in the meantime do 40% waterchange everyday to keep his environment as clean as possible.
best of luck
cheers

tank is heated too about 26/27 got a 70l tank and external filter
not really eating

i would hit her with some ick meds, does you filter have charcoal in it, if it does you will have to remove it because the charcoal eats the meds.

Have a look here and let us know which pic looks most like your fish's affliction.

A little bit like the first one. But under his mouth on there is. Like a White line I'll try and get some pics

just got home from work uploading pics now, noticed his loss of colour under his face. he is slightly more active however keeps going too the surface for air? but not eating feeding flake food

Try frozen bloodworms or brine shrimp, those are a bettas favorite and good to try and get a sick betta to eat.

hmmm...looks like columnaris or some other external bacterial infection. I fear you are in the UK which could make it difficult for me to suggest a med. You are going to need to find a med that treats gram-negative bacteria at the least, but preferably a broad spectrum antibitotic that treats both gram negative and positive bacteria. Here in the US, I would suggest the use of both Maracyn I and Maracyn II in combination but I don't think these meds are available there. Maybe you could contact your vet. In the meantime, make sure you keep his water as clean as possible.

Sounds like a severe bacterial infection to me.
Just check there no white specs behind the lens of the eye.

Once bacterial infection advance there hard to cure.
Uk meds. Myxazin by waterlife and pimafix.

Need to improve water quality.
Find out what caused it.

I have live plants will it effect my whole tank also I have a new tank is it worth waiting till he gets better x
