in my tank (which is 10" x 12" x 12", (H) X (W) X (D)) i have 2 golden opaline gouramis, 5 small zebra danios and 2 red rainbow fish. I would like to get more fish but i'm worried i'll end up putting too many in - I don't want to overstock the tank. Can i get more fish or should I just leave it?

I'm afraid the tank is overstocked already. :(
Your tank works out at about 6 US Gallons and all your fish need more space.
Zebra Danios need a 10G+ as they are active shoaling fish and need swimming space.
Opaline Gouramies can grow to 12-15cm so will get too big for the tank.
Red Rainbows can also reach up to 15cm, again too big for the tank.
You ideally need to rehome them and consider something else.
You could have a single male Siamese fighter, that's a perfect size tank for one and they are full of character!

the problem is where could i put them? i don't really want to get a whole new tank and but new heaters, filters etc, my friends got a tank but it's coldwater so thats no good - any suggestions?

You could ask your lfs to take them, they may even give you something for them.

could this be the reason for one of the opaline gouramis picking on all of the other fish?
