Should I Be Worried?

I've been wondering whats up with my kuhli loaches lately...When I first got them you would find them swimming up and down (everywhere) all day and night. Since then I have gotten rid of of some fish and added 3 angels and ever since then I never see them! They come out to eat..but they are racing across the bottom of the tank before diving back under the driftwood I have in there. Can they become randomly shy like this? I know they are supposed to come out at night but I really don't see them swimming around a lot even then..
The angels don't do anything..if anything they try to steal all the pellets during feeding time but they never touch them or my dojo. I thought this behavior would go away once the angels had settled in and they realized the tank is safe..but its been 2-3 months now. Would putting in more kuhli's fix this?

1) Khulis like to be in large groups, 3 is considered bare minimum. 2) Water quality is vital, if its not perfect you can expect erratic behaviour. 3) Even if the angels arnt actually harming them, their presence may be threatening to them.


End of the day, keep the water perfect, offer plenty of decor and hiding spaces and they should be happy.
