 I am shocked, I have Kribensis fry in my main tank, never before have I had a pair hatch the eggs, they have dug out a huge pit under a piece of wood hidden by a large clump of java fern and I was looking for the female tonight as she had been missing for a day or 2 only caught fleeting glimps of her, but tonight she was proudly showing off her babies. How on earth the pair has raised fry in my main tank is a shock with always hungry angels and the pictus cats! and me vicorously vacuuming away at the gravel all round the wood last night!

 Congrats!

I guess these are tough little buggers!

Are you going to try to raise them, or let nature take its course?

I am a bit stumped on what to do at the moment, my fry tank has some convict fry in looks to be about the same size as the krib fry, not sure if I could chuck them all in together for the time being. The only other problem is getting at the krib fry they are really really well hidden.

KEEP THE FRY WITH THEIR PARENTS!

The parents will protect the fry very well for about a month!

Feed them "First Bites" made by Hiraki and the fry should start to grow very nicely!

If they have survived this long without her eating them, then she will care for them just fine.

I wold start to feed them!

You don't have to deed them if you don't want to. THey will find detris in the tank to eat. They just wont grow as fast. If you don't think you will be able to unload the fry when they are older, then let nature take it's course.

The male krib has chased the female off the brood and is guarding them by himself now, silly begger did that all the time with the last female!

At least the fry is being protected.

With my Krib pair it is the other way around, but mainly mutual. If the female goes to find food, the male stays and vise versa.

Trouble is my male Krib seems to forget he is watching the kids and keeps leaving them on their own!!, I doubt they will be there in the morning.

That's not good. I always found the female was better at protecting the fry than the male was.

Both parents were guarding this morning, but by this afternoon only the male again, the dope keeps chasing the female away. Suprised to still see babies, only a few about 10 I guess.

I dont actually know this is the first time I have really seen them, my female is really tiny so I wouldnt expect many.
