Ihave recently bought bettas from England( I am in N ireland)All arrived safe and sond but then I trusted the buyer from reading about his fish in these forms
I dont think I would chance one from Thailand etc though Im sure many folks have done so successfully or sites like aquabid would not survive
I keep and breed Killifish so sending & recieving fish/eggs is a regular occurance. (mainly in the summer months. I send fish & eggs to Mainland UK, United States, Europe and Scandinavia.
I had 24 mbuna and 3 petricola catfish shipped alive and very well to me from Arizona to Massachusetts. Not overseas, but still a very good experience. Just make sure you're buying from someone that ships fish a lot. They tend to know what they're doing.
I haven't shipped fish yet (but I will next week, assuming the shipping bags I ordered haven't been lost in the mail ). I have, however, received fish and they were all fine, even those that took 4 days to get here.
I have picked up fish that were over 6 hours from me. Not sure if you would qualify that as shipping but they were packed as for shipping and I had to drive them home.
I also have shipped 25 or so Christmas Fulus to New Jersey from near Indianapolis, Indiana. We didn't feed them the day prior to shipping and packed them in bags with Amquel added to prevent ammonia problems. They were shipped in summer so we didn't have to worry about heatpacks. They all arrived alive and well.
I plan on having some bettas shipped to me soon and I cant hardly wait. And I am only wanting to go the two day method. I dont want my little babies to be in a shipping bag for no more than a day...
I am interested in how you pack the fish. If you put them in a bag I suppose there is enough oxygen in the water, but for how long and what sort of courier would you use?
Theres a pinned in the faq section, but no one seems to want to tell me what company to use.... I haven't shipped or recieved, but I probably will when I start breeding bettas and will have a pair shipped to me whenever that is.
