Just thought I would share, got up this morning and noticed loads of tiny fry in and around my female Lamprologus occelatus' (orange variety) shell! I realise that shelldwellers don't exactly represent a breeding challenge but I am chuffed never the less! Mum seems fairly chilled but is doing a good job of keeping the other residents at bay so fingers crossed a few might survive to a good size. These arn't her first babies as she had some previously at the lfs but none survived the attentions of the 15 other shell dwellers in the tank, but fingers crossed she has a good idea what she is doing. Both mum and dad are the orange variety so I am expecting lots of orange juveniles. Good thing I saw them, was just about the give the tank a good hoovering! Anyway, keep your fingers crossed for the little fellas!

That's awesome! :shout: It doens't matter if they are easy to breed or not, it's always exciting. :good:

Thank you, I am really excited! There are still lots of babies so mum seems to be doing a good job of keeping greedy cichlids at bay! What should I be feeding the little fellas? They are right next to a large patch of algae which I assume will contain some micro organisms that they can eat but I wonder if there is anything more substantial I can offer them while they are so small? When they are a little bigger their diet will be well catered for but I am at a loss of what to feed ones so small. They are obviously eating something as they are all active and seem to have nice little round bellies but I want to give them the best chance possible.

Newly hatched brine shrimp would be good for them, usually when I had fry I'd just crush whatever the adults were eating. :good:

Thank you, I will try mushing some food up until I can get some brineshrimp at the weekend. On a completely seperate note, is that your cat wearing the t-shirt? He looks just like one of my little horrors, wouldn't fancy getting him in a tshirt though!
