When will I know the sex of my platy fry? They are a month and a half old and the other batch is a month old

they can start from 3 months or so, but some can take as long as a year before they fully develop into sexed males

I find it hard to sex mine at less than about 3 months. Even at that age I am looking for signs of what will develop, not what exists at the time. The slight thickening that shows up before a gonopodium develops is one sign that I use when they are that young.
