Picked this up as a rescue from the LFS. No history, other than it was in with Jags, Texas and Salvini before it was brought in as it was too aggressive for them  Very chilled out on my tank though and hasn't so much as looked at anything funny. The baby Rotkeils in there swim around him as if they've been given a new bodyguard.

Around 6-7" and 3-4" tall at the moment. Picture is a bit poor but along the top ridge of the body is most red spotted.. hard to see until it's in the mood.

I also have what the supplier call 'Wild Green Red Spotted' Severums. Now this is colouring up, it's looking more like a mouth brooder. What do you reckon?

Thanks :good:

I thought as much on the second one, as it's really come on in this past month. Still less than 2" in length.

I'm going to have to get some clearer pictures of the first I think as it does look quite yellow there, yet in the flesh not so much (#41#### you tannings!). It's more of a grey/light blue colour on the main body in normal light and goes a deep purple all over when it's displaying at it's reflection. The face is blue and the red markings go between the eyes with a series of red spots all along the top half of the body. Don't know if that will narrow it down any more, mind.

Second is defo a mouth brooder and it's male. Not sure on the first maybe gold and green cross

No such thing as gold and green cross, all golds are greens and there colour is recessive.

If you breed a gold with a green, you get all green fry (i know from experience)

Stunning looking.
You have rotkeil fry? I'm jealous. Cannot find them anywhere.

What age are the rotkiel fry. We saved some of our wrigglers from being ate by their young parents and they're just starting to free swim. Hope they survive
