Selling Fish

Hello!! ^^

I sold some fish today, the guy wasn't in yet, not till 3 pm, but they said they would give me store credit, it's just a little store called "The Urban Zoo"
It's a nice place, anyway, my question is, how much do you usually get for a fish? Their Mickey Mouse Platies, (6 of em) 3M/3F
I was guessing maybe around 10 cents a fish? I've never actually sold fish before for a profit, so I've got no clue, if it helps, I live in Ontario Canada (for the currency and all that stuff)

Anyone know please reply! It'd be greatly appreciated, as I'm uber curious,

The fish shops around here usually give you a third of the price they have listed for that species. For example, I sell juvenile turquoise rainbows for $2 each to one of my LFS. He then marks them up 300%, to $6 each. That may seem like a lot, but he has many things to factor in including the occasional loss and replacement. LFS have to make sure that they can still make a profit.

I'm not sure if that's how it works anywhere else though.

Drobbyb is spot on. 1/3 to 1/2 of the price they will sell them for is common. A 1/3 is fair and 1/2 is quite generous.

Okay, I think he sells them for $3.99 a platy, (or $2.99) can't remember, but either way, about $1.50 to $2, if they do it that way there,
He still hasn't called back, so maybe I'll head over there tomorrow,...

Like other people have said between 1/2-1/4 of what they sell them for. I sell my 1" bn fry to them for £1.80 and they sell them for £4.99 so i get a fairly good price.

Heys, I sold my fish today, he gave them to me for 50 cents each, ($3 altogether for 6 of em)
Which isn't to bad at all, considering he's the only place that'll even take my fish for money/store credit, no one else even considers it

nope, I did have about 8-9 but some died before they grew up, so only 6, I'm actually breeding my other platy, (a sunset platy) Check it out at the livebearers page!
