ive used seachem prime for the first time today and noticed that there is a almost sulphur smell comming from the tank, i only used a tiny amount as its only a 55LT tank, is this normal or have i done something wrong?

The Prime itself smells sulphurous but if you've dosed it correctly it won't make the tank smell that way. Are you sure the tank didn't smell sulphurous prior to adding the Prime?

no, no smell before that, shall i do a another small change, how much prime should i have used? also if ok to leave it, will the smell dissapear over time?

my tank smells like that when I dose the tank before adding new water. When I dose the buckets instead I don't notice it.

It goes away. I don't think it is harmful since the bottle says you can overdose 5x safely.

Your tank would be 14.5 US gallons, so 29 drops for the whole tank. Or you can do 2 drops per 4 liters of water removed and returned.

Prime is two drops per US gallon.

sorry i have no idea what a us gallon is, im a Lts girl  how many drops should i use for my tank 55Lt?

Quoted from the bottle

"DIRECTIONS: Use 1 cap-full (5ml) for each 200l (50 USgal)of new water. For smaller volumes, please note each thread is approx 1ml.......sulfur odur is normal."

1ml treats 40Litres of water. As far as drops go define 'drop'. The quantity in a 'drop' depends entirely on the thing its 'dropping' from.

Generally it would be "dropping" from the bottle of prime. Pop the top on anything smaller than a gallon size and it will do a dripping thing that equals a drop per drip.

The small bottles of Prime say to use drops, Not capfuls. I use my big bottles to refill my small bottle that I use for my 10 gallon tanks. 20 drops for a 10g.

So your saying you can acurately add, a couple of millilitres from the open top of a 500ml prime bottle.

Rather you than me, i have an old childrens nurofen syringe, kind of thing you use to give babies and young kids meds. Goes to 6ml. No drips no mess and i know its right.

I'm not chancing a well matured filter on some 'drops'.

Look at my previous post.

It has a top that easily dispenses drops. As opposed to the wide open top of the 500ml bottle.

Look at my previous post.

Didn't see it till my post was up, i take it the little bottles have a dropper in the lid?

So add three drops per gallon instead of two. Won't hurt anything.
