Seachem Prime

does seachem prime contain aloe-vera, i cant see it on the bottle, just says

" contains complexed hydrosulfite salts"

my discus disagree with aloe vera

As far as I know, no? Ive used it for a long time, fantastic product, never heard a bad word against it.

API stress coat + does!

That is what I use.

Both are good products!

i think i have the same problem with some of my corys..... just been to lfs and bought some aqua safe. non of them state aloe vera except api so i guess they dont contain it prime was what i was going to get but was put of as 5ml doses 200L or something, i know thats good for not using much but how do you accurately dose for 50L as the amount would be tiny!!!! i use a 9L bucket to add water and it would just be guess work to get right amount so opted for the easier one to figure out.

Cheers. im never using API stress coat+ plus again. i could not cycle my tank when using it, it stopped bacteria growning, but i think i had a dodgy bottle.

yeah its 5ML per 200L whne i do a 50% WC its aroung 200L so its spot on for me.

Aloe vera really doesnt have a place in the aquarium IMO.

Prime is awesome, overdosing a little is no problem, and if you get really finniky about it, you can buy syringes for a couple of £ including p&p off ebay to measure very accurately for small doses. They measure up from 0.1ml.

So much better value than the gimmiky Stress Coat, as is pond dechlorinator.

what reaction did it have on your discus?
my corys were flicking like they had a disease but i have no other symptoms now and its been a month.... i have always used it and have been told the aloe vera can irritate sensitive fish....... ive treated my fish for ich, flukes, internal bacteria, worms and still certain corys flick...... if when i do water changes with aqua safe they stop ill be a bit annoyed as i have put my fish thriugh all those meds for nothing!

I had the API problem during the a fishless cycle nearly 30 days with no nitrites

i switched aquasafe and had nitrite with 2 days

the discus dont like the aloe-vera and i heard a few things about aloe-vera

yeah i would use aquasafe, it make the tank go a bit blue though

i did read on the bottle that it turns blue but it turns clear almost straight away..... weird, wonder whats in it to do that? i really hope it works for my fish and i dont have some stupid disease or something.......

Boots the chemist do a syringe that clearly measure 1 to 5ml for about £1.30. I use one cause a full syringe = 1 API test tube when testing water.

It makes the water look really clear, it took ages in mine to clear and stained some of the suckers blue

Id say its the API causing your problems id do a WC with aquasafe or other IMO
