hey guys hows it going!

i bough some neutral regulator last night to start doing water changes with as a cheaper alternative to prime.

i was just wondering, it says it softens water i was wondering will this effect my mbuna's much? im getting to the point as if i stuff anything up its gonna get costly so i just wanted to touch base on the hardness of the water and whether this powder will be ok or not?

The water conditions for mbuna are hard water with high pH. We all know that discus are just the opposite. I don't think your experience will carry over. Soft water is the wrong way to go for mbuna.

ok so ive got my 48 cups to a bucket which here = 250ml which is 12 litres per bucket which is 3 measurements of the powder.....only where the heck is the measurement it quotes on the bottle??? LOL i dont wanna have to pour the whole thing out to find it do i?

well.. after pouring out 2 capfuls i found it, next big problem was getting the fker out of there LOL. had to resort to tweezers :( bloody hell they dont make it easy for ya ehh. LOL

ummm... so what ur saying is this stuff will soften the water and kill my cichlids then???

will the softening of my water from this chemical used to do water changes kill my mbuna's?

peacocks, frontosa's, electric yellow labs, red forest jewels?

Mbuna's like hard water. What's the pH of your tank without anything added? My guess is you're best leaving it how it is

...How does adding something to water make it less hard? o.o

Anyway, yeah, don't use it. It's just a buffer anyway, it won't dechlorinate the water. You still need prime.

ummm im pretty sure it does dechlorinate, what it says on the bottle and the reason i bought it.
my lfs use it on all their tanks and have had no problems in their mass growth since opening a year ago.
