i want to breed from my little silver platinum mask SD, i've seen some pretty newly-imported Thai CT girls with copper, i'm breeding for colour, but what would I get from an SDxCT cross?
the SD's history is unknown as he was a petstore find, but you can bet theres some VT in there. he's a small fish so i'm hoping his age isn't going to be a factor.

any genetics experts out there?

No real way of predicting, really- most likely you'll end up with a mixed bag of tail spreads and combing. Although spawning offspring from that spawn should refine the fry somewhat.

Most likely you'll get veiltails, deltas, maybe a handful of super deltas, all with varying degrees of combing. An F2 spawn withh refine those characteristics a bit. How awsome would silver/copper halfsuns be?

I don't know why. From experience I know you'll get very few veiltails, and personally I think that the slight combing effect you get looks pretty neat

As I mentioned, the second generation would end up much better. Depending on which characteristics you picked, you'd most probably end up with nicely defined crowntails and SDs with nice spreads.

thanks guys!

i have a combtail i love to death (if only he would quit EATING his tail!) so i'd have no worries ending up with fish like that.
will keep a look out for a HM/SD copper girl though...now if anyone knows anyone selling one in the SE UK/London
