Schooling fish

I bought 8 dwarf neon rainbow fish, they're only about as big as a neon tetra but will get a little larger. They are really fast and active, always swimming up and down the length of my tank in a school. I have 5 to 3 in favour of females.

Hi LKravitzDO :)

Corys are bottom dwellers, but they still school together.

They are actually bottom feeders, but will spend some time swimming up and down the glass and across the tank. They will also spend some time in a cave you will provide for them. While they do rest too, they are surprisingly active little fish.

It won't matter which gender you get unless you plan to breed them. In that case, it's usually recommended that you get more males than females. Even so, I don't find that it matters if you get a group of 6 or so, since not all the females will be spawning at the same time.

They are usually sold so young that you cannot easily tell the gender anyway, but with 6 the odds of getting some of each are in your favor. I buy the 3 largest in the tank, which are usually females, and buy 3 smaller ones. I never seem to go wrong that way. :D
