Scented Candles

I've since realised the candles are a sickly strawberry scent so nevermind the fish...that's harmful to ME!

Dunno if anyone is even watching this anymore, or cares, but I got a response back from Yankee candle and for the good of the order I'll post the response here.

Dear Kat,

Thank you for being a valued Yankee Candle guest and for taking the time to write to us. To our knowledge, our candles should not pose any harm to your aquatic life. However, we do recommend that you check with your veterinarian for more information.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to write to us.

Sincerely,
Jenn D.

Take that as you will. Different candles have different ingredients so what applies to this brand might not apply to others. I'm not gonna check with my vet but if you are really concerned, go ahead.

Lol so basically they don't want to say don't do it because it's bad for sales but don't want to risk saying yeah it's fine either so have palmed it off with a "ask your vet" response so they can't be held responsible. Sadly I think a vet wouldn't know much either seeing as I believe most don't treat fish.

Thanks for posting :)

your vet will know the answer to this as much as my Labrador, would know the answer and charge you for the inconvenience. I'm really unsure whether it's even or can be tested.

ive burnt a hazelnut coffee yankee candle next to 2 tanks and seems to be okay. sorry that this is a late post.

I have incense sticks burning pretty close to a tank in a house that never has any windows open :/
The fish seem fine :good:

God, I didn't know that birds could be affected by scented candles. I have a canary who thank goodness doesn't seem a bit bothered by my candles - but I won't be using them anymore now, just in case.
