hmmm saying that but its on the plates soonish I think - really dont think these guys are going to be suited to my water long term so need to consider some more options. Got a threadfinned acara the other day so that should fill my girlfriends obsession with fish that look like Alan Rickman....... Thinking of getting rid of my lemon tetras as well and maybe my headstanders but not sure.... (I should probably start my own thread lol)

Thats a real shame there great looking fish. Threadfins are stunning fish but ive always been put of by some of the storys you hear about them. Whats actually in the tank now? ive lost track since not being around much. haha it doesnt bother me this threads dead anyway since ive got rid of the Satans

At the moment its quite a lot....

1 Heros Severus
2 Heros sp.Belum (1m 1f)
4 Geophagus Winemilleri
1 Female Nicaraguan
1 Crenicichla Regani
1 Threadfin Acara
15 Lemon Tetras
5 Annostomus Ternetzi
2 Agenisous sp.Blue
3 Whiptail sp.

Eventually it might look like

1 Heros Severus
2 Heros sp.Belum (1m 1f)
1 Female Nicaraguan
1 Crenicichla Regani
1 Threadfin Acara
5 Annostomus Ternetzi
2 Agenisous sp.Blue

.....but not sure

*edit - saying all that though the first list only works out a few inches above the gallon mark.... and I think we all know my opinion around that is.

Also yeah I know what you mean about the Threadfin - but most of the accounts on profile sites are a little questionable and knowing 2 people successfully keeping them with others hmmm Ive also seem then done quite well with Geophagus in tanks similar to mine.

The stocking looks good to me either way, is there a reason for wanting to get rid of the fish or is it just your not sure how they will do long term?

Yeah, in a 6 foot tank i think the stocking sounds about perfect but you can never tell how it will go with some cichlids.
They where a serious option for my 150G if i could have set it up because like you say i wasnt to sure how accurate what i read was. Ive seen some stunning tanks with the Geo and threadfin mix on youtube and if there is any problems a 6 foot tank should be big enough for them to keep out of eachothers way.

The Tetras I think are going because of the Agenisous and the Pike - though neither have caused me to loose any before. But I am wanting a larger more active schooler maybe.... not sure? The Geos I am starting to worry about because of my high nitrate in the tap water its 40ppm off the water companies records and I worry about them getting hole in the head or lateral line as they grow because of it unless I can work out something that works to lower it. I have started to plant more and that seems to work with a few big mother plants. I tried floating plants this weekend but they didnt stand a chance in the current lol they were going everywhere.

And lastly thinking of rehoming the whiptails as I am trying to get an L095...... lol

Yeah good point i wasnt thinking of them becoming food, how big are the Agenisous now? Any ideas that you would replace them with? Yeah that is a bit of a worry but sounds like your doing the right thing to try and fix it, if not would a RO tap water mix be an option? That sounds a good enough reason for them to go to me haha i will be extremely jealous if you do get one.
Is the tank still a similar lay out to the smaller one now?

With the Agenisous, I had a disease scare a while ago now well about a month ago maybe a bit longer and dosed the tank with one of the water life treatments..... I forget the name but yeah it killed my last Agenisous :( But I went to Pier on Saturday and got the last 2 males so they are in the tank now (I got the threadfin on the same day, he is tiny atm though) These Agneisous are about 4 inches - though I think about 5 actually. As I bought a new net tonight to catch the floating plants and thats 4 inches and none of my fish would fit in it apart from the Lemon Tetras lol. Which was quite a weird moment as I still think of my fish as 3 inchers :p

For the nitrate I have to do something soon because Im running out of ideas - plants are not an option because of the Severums and I read recently they are not as effective as I thought. Not too keen on the RO thing as I dont want to bump the ph as it will effect the others and if it goes lower then it comes down to the Geos or my Nic and thats an easy decision lol.

The tank got rescaped last weekend. Before it was like an island in the middle with caves under it but now its two islands at either end with a good 4 foot of swimming space which is much better for the fish IMO

Thats a shame but atleast you managed to get more, they still working out as the perfect catfish you wanted? Haha atleast you know somethings going right then if there growing. in my tank i think i only have 3 fish over 2" which is the ropefish and my 2 banjos the keyholes, angels and swords cant be much over and inch.

Would something like duck weed work? i know its not the best looking but if your brought a load of it surely the sevs would struggle to eat it quicker than it reproduced. Yeah i get what you mean about the ro and it would be a real shame to see either of them go.

Sounds good, my tanks all over the place atm. When i got the new fish everything just got thrown back in wherever because i could bearly see further than and inch into the tank thanks to restarting my fluval 405. but ive done a similar sort of thing and given the fish alot more swimming room than they used to have.
