3 should be okay but the bigger the better. I imagine the nipped fins will be from the Africans as they really dont belong in there.

I have to admit just an after thought - but if the shop has them in with africans I doubt they are Auticeps or any of the rarities - So going by the tail spot I am going to go with them being Jurupari by default.

The only thing is they didnt come in with the africans they where brought in by someone who didnt know what they where, but your probably right with it being the most common.

I would keep an eye on them cause they need to be in a group of 6 and need sand and they shouldn't be in with African cichlid.

I dont have a clue where i will be able to get more, i was looking for any type of Satanoperca a while back and couldnt find anything. ill just have to keep and eye on the 3 and hope a pair doesnt form.

Looking at that picture i would say hes right with Satanoperca leucosticta, now that mine have settled in ive noticed they have red and blue dots on there fins and have a few blue/silver spots over the gill plate with looks fairly similar to me.

Yeah i know but i cant find any else around here, im going to see if my lfs will let me swap them for a group of keyholes instead.

Well i took them back to the lfs because they wouldnt stop fighting and for the 3 of them i got 6 keyholes, 2 swordfish and 2 angelfish.

Shame about the Satans I think after this I would always say 4 minimum as when I had my Tocantins Geos I had 4 lost one (weak youngster) the remaining 3 were terrible and with my current 4 sometimes I wonder if keeping these is the right thing lol.

The plan is just to wait till 2 pair then sell the others, there only a just over 1" long now. He did offer me 8 but i thought i better be sensiable for once.
Yeah im pretty gutted about that they where great fish but it just bullied everything. Your 4 look stunning though theres no way you could let them go haha.

hmmm saying that but its on the plates soonish I think - really dont think these guys are going to be suited to my water long term so need to consider some more options. Got a threadfinned acara the other day so that should fill my girlfriends obsession with fish that look like Alan Rickman....... Thinking of getting rid of my lemon tetras as well and maybe my headstanders but not sure.... (I should probably start my own thread lol)
