I am going to change my tank from gravel to sand as I think it will look better and my cories will prefere it, I have received alot of advice on here on how to change over. I just wanted to check here about my platy as he sometimes eats of the bottom of the tank will this be a problem like with goldfish?
My other platy only died 2 weeks ago for no reason and no warning, so if this one dies with sand in his gills or something I will feel very guilty.
Thanks for any advice

No, it shouldn't be a problem. My Platies have been kept on sand their whole lives, and nothing bad ever came out of it.

Do you know what sex the one that died was? And what sex the remaining one is?

Thanks for the fast reply. It was also a male platy that died but I didn't see any signs of the other fish bullying it, if anything it used to chase the other one. It was swimming around when I went to bed and in the morning was on the bottom of the tank. It was strange because it was the right way up and not on it's side or anything. It had no marks on it and just looked like it was sleeping.
It was my first death in my tank which has been running for about 4 months and I felt quite sad as I took him out.
