hi all,

i have been using play sand now for just over a year,i clean it by running syphon hose over sand to remove poops.

i have done well but notice sand level has dropped slightly by sucking sand up as well as poops.

is it ok to rinse some extra play and top level in tank without causing problems?

Yes, it's fine; most of us who use play sand have to do this!

thanks for confirming its ok.

i couldnt think of any reasons why it wouldnt be fine

Always best to check if you're not sure though

this is my first time using sand,my last tank i had really really fine round gravel which i liked and was fine for bottom feeders and easier to clean.

as i seam to have an addiction to bottom feeders thought i would try sand when i set current tank up,personally i prefered the fine gravel but my little friends seam to prefer the sand so its all about them

Tip, after washing the new sand put some in a cup, and slowly submerge it in the water right side up and let it fill with water. Then lower it to the bottom of the tank and tip it out where you need it. It just reduces the mess/cloudiness created by adding new sand.
