Sand Substrate

Anyone heard of Unimin Granusil? Probably just available in the U.S., but I saw it mentioned on another forum as being good stuff. I'm trying to find the best substrate at the lowest price for my cories, and I could use some help please!!

ATM I'm using sand-blasting sand in all my tanks save one, and some of my cories have shortened barbels and some are just fine. The water quality isn't an issue (I change it twice a week) so I'm trying to find the best of everything for them to get their barbels back to their long splendor. Any assistance?

I only use and recommend Estes' Stoney River (formerly known as marine sand or Ultra Reef). It is very uniform in size (and the perfect size). It also comes in multiple color options.

And it's also quite expensive. Is there a cheaper alternative? What about pool filter sand?

I don't like any cheapo sands. They are not made for aquariums and are not as good. It is about the same price as aquarium gravel, more than worth it.

I bought some nice white aquarium sand yesterday and now my tank looks amazing.

isn't sandblasting sand, sharpish sand?

what colour do you want? i bought a blck/greyish limpopo sand. 25KG on greenmachine is about £30? to me it looks very fine, but haven't seen it in my tank yet.

But someone said it fizzed a bit with vinegar, so i think it will raise PH?
